Armenia is a small, landlocked country in the Caucasus region. Although it is geographically in Asia (Eurasia), Armenia has a very European feel similar to that of its neighbour Georgia.

It borders Georgia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east, Iran to ther south, and Turkey to the west. Along with Georgia it is considered a Christian country unlike its other Muslim neighbours.

There are lots of interesting things to see and do in Armenia from ancient temples and monasteries to hiking in beautiful mountain scenery and exploring its interesting towns and cities.

Armenia has been producing wine for thousands of years and the Areni wine region is a must-visit for wine-lovers.

There is an overnight train to Yerevan from Tbilisi in Georgia every other day. The journey time is around 12 hours. Tickets cannot be booked online at present so you’ll need to buy these at the station in Tbilisi.

By Car

Driving to Armenia from Georgia is possible, but the borders with Turkey and Azerbaijan are closed and will likely remain so for the foreseeable future.

You can take a bus (or rather a marshrutka minibus) from Tbilisi to Yerevan and I’ve done this a couple of times. It’s much quicker than the train and the journey shuld take around 6 hours.
